Welcome to Here And Everything In It! You should stay for a while! Have a visit! Let me get you a cup of tea! I just have to -- *leaps over baby exersaucer* -- get to the kitch -- *nudges giant dog out of the way* -- ok, just hold on, I'm almost there -- *steps over obese orange cat* -- Right. Here I am ... aaaand I have no idea where I put the kettle. Maybe it's behind this giant bag of dog food ... or on the kitchen table underneath this enormous pile of (recently folded) baby laundry?

Huh.

Want a glass of water, instead?

There's an American poet named Li-Young Lee who wrote a poem called "This Room and Everything In It." He writes: "And one day, when I need to tell myself something intelligent about love, I'll close my eyes and recall this room and everything in it," and although he's talking about romantic love, he's also talking about memory, and part of having a good memory (for me) is WRITING STUFF DOWN. Also, it's a cool name for a website.

Thus, the ever-vague "Here" stands for anywhere we might be in the present AND future, and the Everything in our Here will be our Experiences Therein. See? Poetry = Fun.

After spending five years teaching in the Northwest Territories, we're currently making up for the chill with a new work contract in the Cayman Islands.

I know -- we can't believe we live in the Caribbean, either.

Brad and I coexist with a furry crew of three dogs and a cat, and a lovely lovely little boy named Innis.
