Brad I watched El Orfanato last night, starring Belén Rueda and directed by Juan Antonio Bayona. I thought the movie was really original up to the last few minutes, when it turned decidedly The Others-y and got a little too maternal for my particular tastes.
But, it's shot with this super-grainy film that makes all the women haggard, it's set in an excellent location, and there's this one scene that made the hair on my neck stand on end that makes the whole movie worth it: the main character (Laura) is lying in bed, unable to sleep, and we see an invisible thing crawl under the covers behind her. Thinking it's her husband, Laura pours her heart out, without turning around, of course, only to have her husband walk into the bedroom about five minutes later. Eep.
I give this movie 3.5 knitting projects out of 5.
